Hey everyone, check this link out:

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=13314

It seams that HP/Compaq X1000 series notebook said to have a ATI 9200 GPU actually has a ATI 9000. Mistake or scam?

If have bought the X1000 i would post on petition that has been started on the forum.

I checked the forums there and X1000 owners are up in arms about it. It's an interesting read. And a warning for any future buyers of HP/Compaq notebooks.

thsi is the reply from ati what bs thsi is
The MOBILITY RADEON 9000 and MOBILITY RADEON 9200 share the same basic functionality, with the main difference being AGP8X support in the 9200. As this was not an AGP8X-based design (it's a Pentium-M), for the purpose of supply continuity for HP, ATI developed a special version of the 9000 that matched the specs of the 9200 so that the versions could be interchanged in the systems without any changes or degradation to the end-user experience. Furthermore, as this special version of 9000 matched the specs of the 9200 and AGP8X was not needed, the 9200 brand was deemed appropriate regardless of which solution was being used in the notebook.

The X1000 is advertised to have a 9200 not a 9000. People paied to have a 9200 chip in their system, not a 9000.

If this isn't an example of false advertisement then i don't know what is.

I agree that is is BS. If a special version of the 9000 chip was made for HP it should have been labled as such. Calling it a 9200, even if has similar performance is misleading and unfair to the consumer.
