3880 with WSXGA?

I found a few re-sellers who offer the 3880 in the WSXGA screen, but PC Torque doesn't allow it as an option when configuring. I really wanted to order it from them to get the on-site and accidental damage protection (which I can't find anywhere else).

Anyone know what's up with that?

Now I need someone to talk me out of a Z71V because I can get it with same specs and WSXGA... then again I still want the on-site and ADP. Why is this so hard?

Finding the laptop that's right for you is always a difficult task. All we can do is give you all the information we can on the laptop we have and you can apply it and hopefully make a decision based on that. I was in the same situation as you. My laptop choices first started out between Dell, Alienware and Gateway. For the models I was looking at: Dell (M140), Alienware (Sentia, m5500) and Gateway (I think NX550). I'm not saying there's anything wrong with those 3 companies but until I came to this website I did not know a thing about laptops. I then changed to looking at Sager (clevo) and Asus. From there it got incredibly hard. Both companies are very good quality. I then narrowed my choices down to: 5320, 3880 and z70va "refresh" Those are 3 awesome computers in my opinion. I read some reviews on the 5320 and as much as I wanted that, I just couldn't go with it. Then trying to decide from the 3880 and z70va I read countless reviews. I guess what really sold me was the screen on the 3880. The z70va has an amazing screen as well but I really wanted the 1920x1200 and I am very happy of my choice!

So my best advice to you is to live on these forums as much as you can until you decide what you want. There's a lot of information to be found to help you in your decision. And had I not found these forums I'd probably be getting an Alienware right now and still waiting to get it (phase game).

Yeah, I keep coming back to the Sager. The Z70va Refresh sounds like a great machine too. However on the Sager I do like the larger battery and the life it gives, raised stance, etc. The WSXGA screen I've heard is brighter than WUXGA and it would be easier for me to adjust to the size of things on WSXGA. I really wish PC Torque offered it! I see some other re-sellers aren't offering it either. Wondering if there is either a shortage, or there was a problem with that screen??

I guess it's a good thing I have time to wait before the money comes. This way I can say I really did my homework.

You can try www.PowerNotebooks.com - that is where I ordered my Sager notebook. They offer the WSXGA+ and WUXGA option on the NP-3880.

Again, I was really wanting at least accidental damage protection. I have a 4 year old and a baby due in April. I'm sure someone will spill juice all over the machine, etc. You think you can be careful... but kids are professional destroyers.

Is there anything wrong with the WSXGA screen for the 3880? Anyone know why they aren't offered as widely?

I believe it's the same display offered on the NP-5320. I have the WSXGA+ - it's very sharp, definitely a lot more real estate than a conventional WXGA. Well worth the price if you can find it.

The only issue I have with the screen is that it could be a bit brighter.

And I was thinking of going WSXGA because I'd heard it was brighter than the WUXGA
