32bit, Merom is the 64bit which isn't due out for awhile yet.

No, You'll have to wait till the second half of 2006 for Merom to come out, then you'll see the 64bit version. That said. Unless you are runing linux or some other application that will have 64bit specific versions available soon, by the time 64it software becomes mainstream. Even a TM8204 will be obsolete.

Just to let you all know the 8204 is on Acer's US site now.

I don't think anyone can guarantee that at this point, but that's the current speculation.

Personaly i DOUBT it just like people getting some hype from user upgradeable Vid Cards...

Merom is 64 bit and Yonah is 32 bit, i really doubt the Yonah chipset can support a Merom, but people are suggesting a simple bios flash should fix it.. but who knows.

Thanks,

If they do it like AMD did between the 64bit single cores and the X2's then a bios flash should work just fine. Although IIRC I read that Merom will have its own chipset.

just found this on the intel homepage:
Intel is developing a mobility-optimized, dual-core processor based on next generation microarchitecture, codenamed Merom, targeted for introduction in the second half of 2006. The Merom processor will work within the Napa Platform that is planned to launch in early 2006.

according to this the merom will work with the 8200

this has been stated many times; so long as you can get a bios update, you can put merom in a yonah platform. period. in fact, merom will debut and exist for about 7 or so months with only the current yonah chipset available as its platform. the next merom chipset wont come out until q2 2007.

Can anyone confirm whether its a glossy or matte screen? (prays silently for matte).
Can't confirm for 100% but I'm 99.9% sure it's matte. You would have been able to tell when Wiz33 was took that one picture of the screen with the flash on. Doesn't look like the Glossy version at all. I've had both versions LCD and I'm hoping for the matte as well.

How are glossy screens in a dimmed room without light sources behind you? (all the models I've seen are glossy)
