well well well. got a good deal on some Sniper mouses/meece/mice/mices from MSI, their Laser mouse at 1600dpi. Get ready for a wholly unimpressive review on a decent mouse.

decent looking mouse, three diff colors, good looks.
very light, probably too light, i'm used to the logitech 518. About the same size, roughly. not a low-profile mouse, not a mini or anything, normal size.

so it comes with um...the mouse, the drivers, and a usb/ps2 converter. which i promptly tossed in the drawer full of ps/2 converters.

don't get all excited, it's just the reflection from the hologram strip. nice mouse feet, though, very smooth and slick. glidey.

mmmm forest green. on top you get the mouse wheel, also clickable. on the left, a 3-button thumb dealio that feels a little cheap. I wouldn't recommend using the thumb buttons for anything repetitious or hard like gaming.
Rubbery side is a good feel.

Plugged it in, no issues, sensitive as hell at default setting, had to set way down.
Software: don't bother, the disk comes with a driver, which couldn't be installed (might be an xp64 issue), and some software to switch between "office apps" like word and excel. yeah. (actually, if you're a huge office apps user, it does have some customizable settings for that, but i'm not).
this is a definite negative, having to use the default mouse properties of windows. was looking forward to a Razer-like ability to define buttons and sensitivity, but no go.
Conclusion: for a laser mouse at 1600dpi, the retail of $25.00 isn't bad. you could definitely do worse. very sensitive and very fast, but the lack of software to customize it is not a bonus feature. great feet and smooth glide. Overall, I like it, but the logitechs are better, though more expensive. I'll keep my green Sniper mouse and hock the rest to friends for $40 as always. It's my first 'laser' mouse so i can't compare it to other lasers.
