Problem with World of Warcraft

First off: I am from Germany, so please bear with my poor english

Just got my first Dell... and I really love the 9300.

But I have a Problem while playing World of Warcraft. If I move around or attack, the graphics seem to lag. More outdoors, so I think the graphics card might not have enough power... I have the Geforce Go 6800.

What I did so far:
  • Deinstalled all unnecessary software
  • Defragged the Harddrive
  • Updated the Graphics Driver from the stock version to XTreme-G MobileForce 81.95-v2.24
  • Overclocked to 350/700 (which I hope is save)

Graphics are still laggy. Playing in 1440 x 900, draw distance on half, textures full. 24bit/24bit colors with 2xmultisample

Anyone have any idea why I get this laggy graphics?

btw, if it is of any interest... Stock Benchmark (3dMark05) was 3366, after upgrading driver & overclock I got 4095.

Thanks in advance for any help!

My very first suspect is "unnecessary software" that can use resources. Have you gone into msconfig? Try disabling your autovirus as it might be scanning every little file before allowing access to it (through WoW)

Just out of curiosity, how much RAM do you have?

I have Antivir installed, but had so on my old Rig aswell... It gets choppy when I start fighting or move or turn...

Pretty strange as others posted that they run the game fine with the same Notebook on all settings maxxed

When you installed the new Xtreme video card driver, did you uninstall the old drivers first, reboot and then install the new drivers?

Nope... went Omega Drivers directly after I got the system. No Uninstall. Then uninstalled the Omegas, rebooted & installed the xtremes.

I've been playing WoW without any problems on my 9300 since I got it way back in April.

Here is the contents of my config.wtf file that show what kinds of settings I'm currently running at. One thing I just thought off.. some of the WoW mods greatly reduce the fps of the game. If you have a lot of mods installed I'd try running the game without any, then add them in one by one to see which ones take up more power. Let us know if this helps!

something is definitely wrong.

I can run 1920x1200 with EVERYTHING set to high (Every single option turned to high) with my XPS Geforce 6800 ultra 1 gig ram.

No lag in IF or in 40 man raid. Smooth as silk.

turning on auctioneer w/ the enhtooltip mod was very costly in terms of fps for me. it would go from 45ish fps in IF in front of the bank to around 15 (for about a sec while it searches) and then go back up to 45, everytime i mouse over an item.

so i only turn it on when i'm logging on my trader alt.

I have had problems with WoW as well on my XPS-2, same on my friend's - who has a similar system. There's no problem with the framerate but it lags every few seconds. This is due to the slow 5400-rpm hard drive. When I hook up my USB-2 external HD and play wow from there it runs SO much better =) so try running it from an external HD

This sounds exactly like the problem I have...

I wanted to switch my HD anyway, so I will better switch to 80 or 100 Gig 7.200 drive.

Yep, tried shutting down Antivirus... No change

Playing on a german server. Connection is great.

Hey, I am playing WoW on a french server, (NOT a Blizzard server) and I a have a problem with the connection. I have something like an 8mb/s connection and still I always have a horrible ping. Is it maybe because of the wireless or could it be the server too? Also does anyone know how to send stuff to another character? I REALLY need a way to do that.

cheers

I have a sager 9680 and just got a comprable 9300 on it's way. (selling the sager cause it's outta warrenty and I am living abroad for a year and don't wanna break it over seas and have no warrenty )
And with the 6800 and 1gig I play Dungeons and Dragons Online Full Rez and graphics perfectly fine. I agree that a full reformat and then updated drivers will do ya good.
