Well, after having my 7700 for 7 months on the nose my LCD inverter crapped out. At least thats what I hope is wrong with it.
Short description...
Using the computer then left it on to go watch a movie. Came back and it had entered standby (or hibernate). Tried to turn it back on but no video. Everything else worked. I knew Windows was running because of the sound. Called support, they had me disect my machine with no luck. Got it narrowed down to the LCD inverter. Held a flashlight up to the screen and could barely see the desktop. AW is shipping a new board and I guess a tech is going to replace it.
Few questions...
1. Is this normal for laptops and why does this happen? Can it be prevented?
2 Where can I buy a new one in the event this happens again and my warrenty is up?
3. Can I extend my warrenty (got the 1 year which I'm starting to regret)?
I've been lurking around these forums for almost a year and am consider myself pretty lucky when I see the problems others are having. My only complaints with AW is that they tend to take there time getting things done. Building, shipping, responding. Complaints with the machine are few, Paints starting to rub off where my left hand rests, the black shiney panel where the lights are isnt shiney and now a little ugly looking (is this replaceable?), and I have paint rubbing off where the lid closes and rests on the base of machine. Its not bright and shiney anymore but it still does everything I need it to and no doubt more. All I have to say I love it with a few minor details.
