AMD Yamato

Thread Starter
I love the name, but that's not the point. These are the only articles I found regarding the new AMD Yamato platform for next generation Turion notebooks. Does anybody knows more?

http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/mobile/...215222042.html

in italian with a few images as well

http://www.hwupgrade.it/news/portatili/16007.html

And of course the original Japanese article with more images

How do you know they are a year away? I've been asking and asking about this cpu/platform for months. 1 more year is too long to wait for me, but 5-7 months is not.... so which one is it?

from the article: "AMD mobile processors with two cores and dual-channel memory controller should emerge in the Q2 2006. It is unclear when notebook makers plan to adopt the new platforms designed by AMD and partners."
so I suppose it is still possible that it wont be until Q4 due to manufacturing delays etc. I still would hope that on April 1 or so that the new cpu, chipset, notebooks would actually be available. I would scoop one up mid semester (I would like one before the semester starts but see that ain't gonna happen period).

UH, not to argue but the original link pointing to the x-bit labs article mentions the Yamato platform right in the headline. It then goes on to mention Q2 for the dual core chip. It mentions that the yamato platform would be available for their partners now quote : "The goals of Yamato project is to enable notebooks running low-power AMD Turion 64 processors to work more than 5 hours using the battery power as well as to introduce validate platforms, which is expected to improve time-to-market for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The Yamato reference platform has been developed jointly by AMD, IBM Japan as well as NVIDIA Corp."
