I'm still confused whether buy Toshiba M70-FE5 or other brand of laptop. Is the TV tuner from M70-FE5 only have Video output or there is Audio output?

TV out is not the same as a TV tuner. a TV tuner will allow you to bring in a TV signal and display it on your laptop display as well as record it to your hard drive. TV our will mean that you can display the image on your laptops screen on the TV (using it as an external monitor) that is all.

Sound only comes from the laptop's speakers, not the TV.

Bollocks, you can connect your laptops soundcards out to the composite in of your TV with a minjack -> stereo converter cable.

thats true, its what i do with my xps, but that is not what he was asking, cause if he only uses the tv out it will be just the picture no sound from his tv speakers. now he can use the minijack to composite converter and that will get him sound, i know it works great for me, but in the end it is still not the same functionality as a tv tuner card.

Not at all, what people here seem to confuse is that a TV tuner card lets you watch TV on your computer, it actually has nothing to do with outputting data onto a TV

With a Tuner you can connect a your cable TV connection, digital TV connection (with a decoder / digital TV tuner), your consoles, your VCR, camera, etc to your PC and watch it on your PCs screen

Oh and there plain simply is no device that will output sound + picture to a TV with just one cable, you will always need separate composite sound + composite image / s-video to connect to your TV, unless you have some special TV tuner with a scart interface (which I have never heard of before)

Now I know how it works. Thanks everybody.

I have actually tried to get my laptop to display on a TV and can't figure it out. Do you have to change the settings on the video card to get it to output through the TV out?

Also, how exactly does the audio output work?! My mouth has been watering at the thought of playing BF2 through my home theater but as of now I have had no luck.

Thanks

i play BF2 on mine and it is amazing... you ahve to set your computer to dual displays with one as a TV its especially easy if you have an S-video output on your machine... as for the audio you need a minijack (headphones) to composite converter. from there you will be set and playing BF2 in no time at all...

On a vast majority of laptops, there is a button that enables and disables the secondary display.
