what's the minimum cpu speed require to playback a 1080p video without any frame skips?

post your cpu and how the video clip plays for you

i can play it on a 1.6 ghz p-m without any skips/lags. The 2.533 ghz p4 i have on my desktop skips like crap.

1.6ghz p-m works here too, though i half the size otherwise i wouldnt be able to see all of it.

Pentium 4 1.79 GHz, 1 stick ram. Not able to play it cleanly.

The 1.6GHz guys: do you actually play smoothly 1080p video or are you talking about the 720p trailer? What GPU do you have? It may help the CPU.

Don't have a WUXGA screen on mine but at 1440x900 with 1.73 Pentium-M it was fine.

Desktop Celeron D320 2.4 @ 3GHz (+ 9800Pro 128MB)= some stutters/audio sync issues

Core Duo 1.83 T2400 (+ 7800go 256MB) = Yeah baby, yeah!

I didnt try this video due to being on a slow internet connection, but ive played other 1080p videos on my 3.2 P4 just fine. My monitor only displays at 1680x1050 though.

CPU: Intel Pentium M 1.8GHz (Dothan core)
GPU: Radeon 9700 Mobility 256MB

1080p: jittery with realplayer and messenger programs (MSN, Yahoo etc.) running in background. Not jittery if played after fresh reboot.
720p: smooth
480p: smooth

HI,

Funny as it is I tried playback of those videos before and my I8600 with specs in sig always stutters and I have not a clue why while a 1,6GHZ Acer notebook plays it fine.

So far I haven't found any solution why that is

Ive done it on a Pentium3 1.1Ghz system with 512MB ram and 64MB Radeon 9K card.

You are an evil man Machina :-)

Putting salt in my open wound.

So, if I get it right, my i8600 should be able to play it fine but still it DOESN'T.

Damnit, I wish I would know why

fyi, the apple HD movies don't use overlays, so they dont use your video card. It relies entirely on cpu, so to those of you having skipping problems, try the windows media player HD moveis.
I can play 480/720/1080 dpi w/o any studders on my 8600. If I'm running something like a render then playing 1080 video, then it'll studder. Otherwise, it should be pretty playable.

It plays fine on a 2Ghz Pentium M just in case anyone was wondering.

athlon 3400+ [skt 939] + 6800gt = no problems at fullscreen

Hi

@Kakarot
I am seeing you also have your card overclocked. But how did you get your Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo to 415 on core and 310 on memory that is kinda very high.
I also have the heat mod installed that was talked about some time here.
What is your 3dmark05 score or Aquamakr 3?
And what driver do you have installed?
Maybe it is a driver thing that the video mentioned above stutters or a setting.
I will send you that s a PM too

Thanks for the help

Like i said, the quicktime HD trailers DO NOT use overlays, thus do no use the video card for rendering. It's entirely cpu dependant.

Not dependant on the vid card I think.
