What part is backordered Tanamerra? Their website doesn't show any parts I ordered as being backordered but I don't know if they keep it updated or not.

Extra 9 cell battery. Requested they ship computer and send the extra battery that is back ordered later.

i ordered on nov 9th, i live in seattle. it shipped on december 13th it will be here on the 20th

I hope you get it by Christmas. I don't wanna be the grinch but didn't you say Estimated Shipping Date is 25 Dec 05?

A brand new Area-51® m5500 for the New Year sounds good too!

I also ordered an extra 9 cell battery but haven't received a message saying the battery is on backorder. Of course, I am still in Phase III. I, like you, would prefer to have the laptop ship first and the battery second if that is the case. Thanks for the info. By the way, when did you order again?

nice. cant wait to see some of you guys get your 5500's. i did go with the 9300, but only because it was the best deal for ME at the time. im no way going to become a dell fanboy or AW hater or w/e. i have nothing against AW or any manufacturer actually. who knows if my next laptop or pc wil be an AW. ill keep in touch guys.

Thats not a good sign (to me ,at least). I ordered mine the end of November, went Phase III last Wednesday (I think) and have been there since. I've received no indication my battery is backordered though. Have they responded to your request to ship the computer first? I am leaving for an overseas assignment mid Jan and really want to have my notebook with battery for my trip.

CS told me today they are proceeding with production even though the 9 cell battery is supposedly on back order. Do not understand why they did not do that to begin with. Maybe it will ship next week. Hope it will be worth the wait and annoyance.

well i found out that 5500 come shipping with a standard 6-cell not 9, so yea, i still dont know if im gonna call up n add it to delay it.. i was also thinking of upgrading my warranty to 2 years, any thoughts?

Battery yes...you never know what power requirements the next wave of MXM2 modules may require.

Yes on the warranty only if your credit card company doesn't have a program that covers all purchases for one year past the retailer's original warranty (most cards have this program so check first)

its really a debit card so i dont think it warrantys too much
n good idea on the bigger battery

okay i updated my warranty, and i tried to order the 9-cell battery in a seprate order but at the time they were having "server matinance" so i had to call back later but he thinks he could do it, so all yall w/ a back ordered 9-cell u can probably take it outta ur order n order it seperate.. (I got a guy who speaks english!!! )
