I had never heard this before. I also ordered just the 1 year warranty and was about to upgrade before reading this. I will have to check on this too. Thanks for the info.

well after checking my conframation email about the battery, i found out its was for the 5500/766 model so i was all WTF! and i called back, they were dumbasses... so all fixed up, cancelled the order, n found out u cant order the m5500 battery seperate untill its off backorder..

P.S. still in Phase3

It's tough during the holidays guys...I wouldn't expect shipping dates to be that accurate. They're just inundated with so many orders and so few hours in the day.

Either 30 Nov or 1 Dec. So far they are right on schedule.

I Appreciate it Craig. Its just tough when you shell out a couple of grand for something and then have to wait a couple weeks for it. I'm anxious to see those glowing eyes.

Went to Phase 5 today. So maybe will get it before the New Year.

Mine just went to Phase 5 today as well. I think they will make the original ship date of 23 Dec. Fingers are crossed anyway.

Ordered mine on Nov 12th. Originally scheduled for Dec.19th So a little late but not bad. Was surprised it went from Phase 5 to Phase 9 so quick. They must have good QC people i hope.

I hit Phase 9 today as well...I was hoping for Phase 10 but am happy it moved from 5 at all.

Did you notice they came out with a M5500i with an upgraded graphics package (MXM2)? i wonder how much better it is over the the geForce 6600? Do you think it is worth it to upgrade? Would if changed but too late now. Just got shipping notice.

Go to Alienware.com, under notebooks, select model MJ-12 m5500i, click tech Specs tab and you will see it listed under graphics and Video.
