is it smell strong enough?? i been played game for 6 hour usualy it smell burn a little from air hole under it but after it cooling down that smell is gone.. that means your ferrari is fine..

ferrari had a switch that can turn off itself if your laptop is to hot.. first time i played game and put my ferrari upon my bag and suddenly after one hour it turn off itself and i can feel hot came from under it and light burn smell. but after a few minute waiting and cooling down i can turn it on..

You need to change oil

Seriously though, some of this burning smell is ok at first if it goes away quickly when you finish gaming. Also, set something like MobileMeter and check the temperatures, especially when you exit game right after you feel that smell - should tell you if the temperature is something to worry about. This application can show both CPU and hard drive temps.

MobileMeter can be found at http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/8259/ Click English link there if you want to read more on it.

I have the same problem on my ferrari 3400lmi. mobmeter reports idle temps of 49~50 C and op to 65 C under load. I run smart tools and I know the hdd did give CRC errors when at the gottest. I know my HDD will die under this stress. I've changed my hdd to one that consumes less power. TOSHIBA MK1032GAX, 5400 rpm. It's faster, low cost, and a little cooler (not much).I'm looking to buy a notebook cooler, but for the time being, I'm running laptop-mode under Linux and even without spinning down the hard drive at all, the idle temperature lowers by about 3~5 degrees because all of the writes are done at once.
