Burning recorded video in MCE

Hey...I took an old video tape of a family vacation and recorded it to the hard drive via the tv tuner in media center.

I tried using the make dvd feature within media center, but it just stays at 3% and doesn't go any further.

Does anyone know where MCE saves my recorded video on the hard drive so I can just manually burn the video using the Sonic software?

Thanks

On mine recorded TV goes here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV folder, with the extension *.dvr-ms.

How exactly did you get that to work anyhow? I am trying to hook up my Mini-DV camcorder the same way. I can hook it up to a VCR, so why not the tuner? Can't figure it out.

Thanks man.

To get my vcr to work with the tuner, I just hooked it up via coaxial cable. When MCE tried to detect a signal, it wont. Just do manual configure and select cable. Bam, that should do it.

Anyone know how to convert .dvd-ms files to be able to be burned and read as video by dvd players?

You may already know about it but http://www.thegreenbutton.com/ is great for everything MCE...

Really interested in knowing if you figure anything out about the DVD-MS conversion. I've googled it and can't find much. Will check that green button one...

Could you post back if you get it?

Thanks

Try googling dvr-ms - you will get better results. In fact the first result is a converter...

Thanks K9387, I googled "how to convert DVD-MS to....." and just ended up reading about people as lost as me. The best link I found with your search was here:

Thanks again

sorry guys...I shoulda typed dvr-ms instead of dvd. still trying to learn this stuff.

ProV1, hows it coming along?

Didn't even notice the mis type, that link in previous post is for dvr-ms, so it should work. I will try tomorrow and post back. Hoping I have the Sonic Installer already on my machine, we'll see I guess...

One thing I didn't think about is that anything coming from a VCR tape or even a Mini-DV tape, through the VCR to the TV Tuner will probably have pretty low video quality, right?

guitarpik... if you want to avoid the MCE burning capability then I suggest:

www.MyTVToGo.com

It's great for moving shows out of the dvr-ms format and also converting quality to the settings you want. Get the 20$ PocketPC version that will make them into nice lik WMV's or AVI's. Then you can use Nero or Sonic to burner your home videos onto DVD without any problems.
