I'm still confused to buy a laptop beacuse in 2006, I heard there will be new technology for laptop such as dual core processor and windows vista. Should I buy laptop this year or next year? If I buy the laptop this year, I'm going to buy Toshiba M70-FE5. Anyone please give me some advices.

truth is, new technology is coming out ALWAYS! so it doesn't matter when you buy, if you need a laptop now, buy now, if you need it later, then wait.

When I bought my Uniwill AMD64 was still new, and ATI 9700 was as good as it gets for mobile gaming. Today its no longer top of the line but it still gets the job done. that said, life is good....live it! get whatever lappy you wanna get.

Do you need a laptop? If yes, buy one. If no, don't. Simple.

<---what abf said. I was sitting around 4 months ago wondering the same thing about the next one and then the next one and then the next one. You cant do that. Just get what you want now.

heh yeh... 4 months ago I bought a computer that is discontinued now... it still does everything I need very well, and I love it, but it did make me feel like I bought a dated piece of crap... even though I did get a good deal on it. However I needed it then, and I wouldn't trade it in for anything out now, for what I paid for it. When I consider it, I am still very happy with it.
I have one thing for you to consider. If you need one now, buy now, if you don't need one, why are you buying one? If you just want one, thats cool, just realize that a laptop will become "dated" much faster than a desktop, because you cannot upgrade them nearly as much.

At the earliest, and without the new fangled WinFS (the new revamped super cool, fix all the ills of the modern age file system) there is very little impetus to drive most users to upgrade.

So breathe in, relax and go get yourself a laptop (if u need one).

Cheers.

Windows Vista strikes me as all about looking pretty. I can't see any feature that would make it worthwhile, and with all that visual overhead - probably make my aged lappy chug along like a 486!

As it is, I have most of the visual features of Windows XP switched off - to make my machine more stable, and run smoother.

Is windows vista works on Pentium M processors? What is the advantage of dual core processors, Is it faster than Pentium M?
Its more efficient for multi tasking, think of it as a suped up hyper threading cpu. I'm guessing that the minimum requirements for Windows Vista will be Pentium 3 1.0Ghz 512 mb ram.

Its always some ridiculously slow configuration

There's always the option to turn off the eye candy in vista...

Though, I hear that many of the features of Vista (the new fangled file system, the extra fancy command line, etc.) will be back ported to Windows XP, so why bother wasting the money on vista? :P

But take away the resource wasting junk ('eye candy') and what do you have left? They already dropped the enhanced file system and command line...

Actually, they will ship after vista ships. They're still working on them as far as I know. I guess MS just wants to get Vista out the door faster, though by dropping all the stuff that made it appealing to people who dispise the bloa.. I mean eye candy, Vista will be fairly useless

I hear the GUI engine is being backported as well...

The new command line is fairly interesting to me I guess I'll grab it when it comes out.. along with all the other toys that are back ported.

hmm I realized my post was confusing :P

I was refering to the extra bells and whistles that Vista will "offer"

As far as Yonah goes, I believe the chips will be introduced in January, but I dont know much about when it will appear in laptops you can buy.
