Memory upgrade

Thread Starter
I committed the cardinal sin of computer gamers and bought a system with too little RAM.

I got a 8886 with 256MB and now I'd like to go ahead and upgrade it a little. Is it easier to order directly from www.crucial.com or through pctorque? What are pctorque's prices on memory?

Also, just double checking, I've got single 256 MB chip right now, I can just get a single 512MB chip and run them both right (for 768MB right?)

Yeah, only RAMBUS RD-RAM has the pairing limitations. Of course, eventually if you're going for 1024 MB, you're gonna have to do away with the original 256.

Cheers.

Sucks, donut?

I think crucial overcharges for some things; best to shop around, I think there was a thread on this before.

crucial has some of the best ram though, and you can usually find specials on it..check out something like www.dealtime.com, www.newegg.com, im sure you can find a good price for some quality ram from crucial.
