I always turn my fans on high when gaming or running demanding programs...But monitor your temps and decide for your type of computer. Automatically my fans will not go fast enough to cool sufficiently, but your might.

The pacific breeze will tilt the laptop up at an angle, no? Thats one thing about some coolers I can't stand...having your keyboard flipped up at an angle. The only way to work around it is to get an external keyboard or find a flat elevated cooler.

I hate those cooling pads that lift the whole notebook up, it makes it a pain in the ass on your wrists, for gaming and typing.

The slight angle that the Pacificbreeze cooler lifts the bak of my notebook actually makes it easier to use.

question:

When I'm home from college and actually able to play online... I play on my bed, but anywho would this cooler make my 9300 sit awkward? Or should I get one that covers the whole bottom of the lappy?

Just to throw my quick review in.

Just got this thing about a week ago based on suggestions here. While I have not monitored the GPU and CPU temps, I just got done playing a nice long stretch of BF2 with the fans on high. As I was shutting down my computer I decided to feel how hot the RAM was, and to my surprise, it was almost completely cool.

So, does it drastically lower the internal temps? Perhaps not, but I know how hot the underneath can get, so the fact that it is rather cool means the heat that is generated inside the laptop is at least being carried away, and not sitting around and baking the computer.

trying to decide if this is better than my lapcool2

word to the wise: the types of laptop fan coolers are power hungry. Though very little proof is present, I have heard a number of stories where USB port failures seemed to point back to one of these fans present. Odd I/O failures, and even inactive ports.

That being said, I have one of these fans and keep it on low at all times. The heat disapation is still very good and since I keep my laptop on at all timse the lowered temps are essential.

they are not made by Pacific Breeze....some other company.

It's the same build design.....just no lights....

Hey UN, isn't this deja vu for some of us...

Yes, another vote for the SPB, it even sits really well behind my 9750 behemoth. Like Nyako, with the jet fans on full and the SPB, my temp stays around 46 to 48 during intense gaming over hours (based on my mobmeter).

Cannot go wrong....

i run mine off my belkin 7 port usb2.0 hub, so it takes the pressure off the notebook usb2.0 port...

Here's a link to my alternative to the pacific breeze cooler. Since these photos, a fan guard has been added to each fan.

A little on the fugly side, but works good for under $5.

so i am ordering one of these and expect it to arrive any time now, how many actual instances of problems with the lappys ports have you heard of. reliable information or friend of a friend stuff?

i have searched a little about this and only came up with porn links, funnily enough. my window of opportunity might be gone for ordering a hub and im interested in anyones input on fryusbportology.

I've heard of none....
First mention was in this thread. So....I'm inclined to take it in stride....
but be safe none the less with the Belkin USB hub.

I bought BYTECC laptop cooler ($20). Doesn't do any good to my XPS2. I found just 1c drop in CPU and GPU temps. Nothing more. Waste of money. Stay away from this junk.

I'm using some homemade stuffs to lift the back of my notebook and use a small desk fan to blow the hot air away from the bottom. Works pretty well. Temps never go above 77c while playing NFS-MW. It used to peak 85c before.
