Hi everyone. 
I just bought a brand new VGN-T17GP and unfortunately after installing the WindowsXP operating system, I cannot get the recovery utility to work for me.
When I open up the CD, it starts to install but after a few seconds I get a message reading "An environment error occured. (ErrorCode = 208)" and the program cancels. I have installed all the driver and software upgrades on the Vaio website and still get the error. It is a problem because without the installation, I cannot connect to the internet.
When I try and install the driver of my D-link modem it comes up with a message along the lines of 'your operating system cannot install. Seek technical support." I know it is not the modem's problem but the incomplete operating system due to being unable to install the Recovery CD stuff.
I have tried all of this many times, but I really need to access the internet on my little notebook.
I have tried reinstalling the OS but I get the same error again. What is it that I should do to fix this? Thanks everyone, and all help is really appreciated, Sam.
