Should I uninstall it or is it better to leave it on my M140?

Uninstall? I would wipe the entire HD, along with all of Dell's crappy partitions.

Well I don't yet have the discs from Dell to reformat. I have eliminated most of what I would consider bloatware and did some other maintenance and it's running beutifully. I just don't know if Dells support software is worthwhile or not.

^^you did what most people only need to do: just uninstall the programs vice clean formatting.

no, you don't need the dell support software.

I wiped my 710m the second time I turned it on (The first was to see if it was working ok).

(Ok, I replaced the HDD with a bigger one)

I never reinstalled the Dell Support stuff. You don't need it.

If the words "partition" or "format" or even "double-click" are familiar to you, you don't need it.

Do the wipe. Enjoy the 25%-or-so performance increase.

I did, even before I got my i6000d, and Dell FedEx overnighted the XP CD to me.

Well I eliminated everything I deemed bloatware, cleaned out any startup applications and disabled non needed services and my M140 is purring like a kitten. I can't imagine it running any smoother or faster if I reformatted than it's running right now. I will still request the discs from Dell as I might want to reformat later but I see now that it's not really necessary.

What do I do if I need the use some of the bloatware like the Earthlink ISP for free (6 months) and I reformat the whole system?

Its even better when you reformat. When I got my i8600, I was too excited to bother reformatting it (a mistake I didn't make with my 710m) so I just uninstalled all the Dell rubbish. I though it was pretty good then, but comparing its speed then to the speed after reformatting 6mths later was so much better!
