I am getting ready to buy a laptop cooler for my soon to be arriving Area51m . The one I am considering is Antec's. are they all about the same

Hey man, i got the antec laptop cooler...however, i don't have my a-51 yet. Next week sometime. I can tell you that it looks like it's got potential. I plugged it into my pc's USB ports and the fans weren't loud, the aluminum got chilly to the touch, and it's just a good looking product. I don't think you could go wrong w/it though.

My two cents. Sorry, wish i could be more helpful.

Shamest,

I own one for my Area51m. It rocks. In fact I posted about it here:

I just use the Targus Lapdesk... it fits my needs and gave a bit more clearance to the lappy for air flow (though I only use the thing when typing/gaming for long periods... it's more comfortable to have the lappy at a slight angle).

Anyone know of a lapdesk with cooling fans on the bottom? I really like the Antec that a few of you have, but I need something to support my laptop on my lap while I'm lounged on the couch too.

heh.. Drew is asking this question in every lapcooler thread he can find.

I use an old peice of laminated plywood! It actually came of my computer desk had a shelf above monitor used shelf as lapdesk sits beside my couch hiden in corner! Not really portable though!

If your heavy laptops fell off that thing and hit you in the head I hate to think how that would feel! You may be ok after your amnesia clears up!
How is the laptop attached to that thing! Looks like it would fall right off.

Measurements please? I may make my own with some cool poly / plastic to match my laptop.

Are there any retailers that sell the Antec laptop cooler?

I don't know of any retailers that stock them, but i work @ radio shack and i ordered my antec through them. I'm sure any other shack out there would do the same.

Rubric,

CompUSA stocks them. But they usually hide them by the Antec CPU Cases, not the mobile accessories. Don't ask me why.

Homemade Cooler

I had a few spare parts lying around and decided to make my own laptop cooler and not with 2 lil dinky fans neither but 4 case fans I know it wont be portable but it might just do the trick while it sits on my desk!
Here is where I am so far 1 small power suply and 4 case fans! and a switch to turn the whole thing on and off will run on standard outlet 120.
Now i just need to figure out how to integrate them into my laptop bench.
