How to properly install Temperature Sensor?

Title prety much says it all. I got a new desktop case and it's beautiful, but i don't know how to PROPERLY instally the temp monitor so i can see the CPU temperature on the case. Right now i'm running at.....-41 degrees F and while i would LOVE that to be true, i know it's not. Oh by the way it's just a wire with a small metal piece at the end. As of now it's kind of jammed between the heat sink and the edge of the processor but i'm afraid that might cause problems.

Thanx for the help.

I put mine on the edge of the hs, making sure its not on the processor.

I was in the same predicament about a month ago. I bought one of those Thermaltake cases with the CPU temp sensor unit in a 5.25 bay. The instructions wanted me to put the temp sensor in the middle of the cpu (thread the wires through the cpu pins). This seemed geared toward intel or the amd athlon xp or somthing else. I had a new amd 64 which had a smaller center area, so it didn't fit, plus I was afraid of bending the cpu pins.

I have one of those zalman fans, so i pushed it into the fins of the heatsink and it reports the temp fine (starts at about 90F and rises to at most 104F)

I was under the impression that putting it on the cpu wouldnt allow proper heat transfer.

It's meant to be installed on the underside of the CPU. not the top. I've seen some guys that machine out the HS to accept the thermister down through the HS it self.
