I have had 3 different 9300 WUXGA 17" LCDs. I have listed them in the order I have had them.
1.) J9662 - LG
2.) K9975 - Samsung
3.) WC222 - LG
LG J9662
This LCD had the "punchiest" colors. It was amazingly vibrant and strong. Blacks were as BLACK as can be. However, whites were absolutely awful. The sparkle effect on this LCD was the strongest I have seen. Also, the LCD also from an overall blue hue at factory settings. This LCD had very little light leakage.
Samsung K9975
The colors on this LCD had a more washed out feeling. The colors were much, much muddier. Blacks were deep gray and whites were light gray. I was able to calibrate this LCD to produce "punchier" colors, however, it could never compare to the J9662. Light leakage was absolutely awful. In a dark room, this LCD looked like it had light all over it. Whites were significantly better on this LCD. Sparkles were reduced to almost nothing.
LG WC222
The colors on this LCD are a wonderful middle ground between the prior 2 LCDs. In fact, they are as close to the J9662 as possible without the weird blue hue. Blacks are very nice and whites are much better. Sparkle is essentially a non issue. Little to NO light leakage is noticeable under all conditions.
So, in closing, my take is that the latest LG WC222 outperforms both the original LG and the Samsung LCD. Also, while I think these LCDs produce very nice deep colors, they lack in their ability to produce light colors. For example, I challenge any and all 17" WUXGA owners to distinguish new email from old email on Hotmail's website. The new email rows have a light yellow/green color to them that is almost indistinguishable on ALL the WUXGA LCDs I have had.

My says K9975 too, but same thing - 7 brightness settings, no difference between 2 and 3. No sparkles, excellent colors. I'm thinking I lucked out and got the good LG one.
