Congrats dude, you got the good lcd.

What are the chances mine was built with the WC222? It was just built today(passed build/test stages). Are they using that one often now or are the chances still one in three?

Any way to check before it arrives? Gives me something to do while i wait, lol

Only way you are going to know is after they shipped your system After they shipped, go to your account and look at the system info link and the lcd should show which part you got. I not sure this is correct but the e-mail they sent me after I ordered shows my lcd part as [320-4256]. Also, I call my order in and talk to the sales rep. about getting a Samsung at first. He said, "You don't want a Samsung, I get you a better one". So, I got the WC222 instead.

320-4249 is mine :/

Anyone know which LCD that is?

Is it possible to order one of these screens?

I got the Sharp LCD, laptop shipped and I checked the service tag.

Looking at it, its not all that bad, actually it kicks ass(after some SERIOUS gamma adjustment and really high digital vibrance)....You think its worth it to go through the trouble of getting a WC222? No dead pixels, and minimal light leakage already, its just the fact that I have to really lower the gamma and really up the digital vibrance to get it to look good.

Has anyone found a way to request the wc222 from dell, everytime I order (now on my 4th) they give me the order number for the repair kit and tell me they can't specify a panel. It's very frustrating.

I have virtually zero light leak, and a truely awsome screen so far. what is it? anyone else with this screen? Pstrip and lavalys both verify this screen... max screen rez 1920x1200 w/ 1600.1200 native

^ That's Samsung. Lots of hits if you search for it. Many here say it is the best.....

It don't matter which brand you get as long as there are not many dead pixels or little or no light leakage. Take a look at it from a few feet away when windows is fully loaded and then pop a movie in and watch it for more than a few minutes. If it looks good then the lcd is perfect.

aargh, i should have reordered like you did. oh well, ill wait a bit and get the e1705 lcd. hopefully it is even better than the wc222.

the only thing i liked about the sharp lcd is that it had less glare than the samsung does, so it is less annoying from that POV. mine had terrible sparkles though. another thing to keep in mind, i dont think you will be able to get a wc222 as a replacement ATM, both my replacements were samsungs, even though i specifically asked fora wc222.

I've tried once to get the LG WC222. They sent me a Samsung. I've tried to request to exchange this Samsung for the LG, but from what I've got so far, they only have the W9892 in stock.
How is the w9892?

I just sent my 9300 back for a wc222...
Well I'm not sure what Samsung screen I got. Powerstrip said SEC5557. If it is the W9892, then expect a VERY noticeable grain effect. Light leakage is noticeable but not anything big, at least for me. It will need some serious color adjustment though.
