7515 - how to full system restore?

ok, so i popped in my gateway restore cd, and my 7k60 harddrive so that i could do a full system restore, and whoa, nothing good happens. instead, i get what appears to be a simple XP install, without any drivers or software.

ok, so i had decent luck finding the drivers i needed, but the question then becomes how do i install some of the preloaded software? I dont care about bigfix, or aol, or the other crap installs, but i would like to get money and nero back on here. i cant seem to find them on the dvd at all, in fact its a mess. totally unlike the restore dvd that came with my 6811.

this has me wondering if the software is kept on that stupid restore partition that the computer came with. if it is, is there anyway to break into it so that i can simply get the installers i need? I can understand them wanting to prevent software installs on unauthorized computers, but hell all i am doing is installing my faster harddrive.

am i missing something?

you should have created the drivers and apps from the recovery partition. the restore does not include the drivers and apps, you need to create it separately. If you have used the OS disc that came with the laptop, it will delete everything on your HDD. try contacting gateway for the restore disc with the apps and drivers...its $20 I think for the shipping.
