Hey Guys, I'm a new member to the forums here and hope you guys can answer a few of my questions...

Im in the market for a new gaming laptop and have spent a couple days doin research now. I've looked at voodoo, alienware, hypersonic, velocity and ofcourse sager. Pricing out all the competitors i eliminated voodoo and alienware cause of the high price, the velocity for its agp4x motherboard and GPU.

When i priced out the hypersonic i ended up with 3356.00 and the sager at 2905.00 and im pretty sure that was with nearly identical configs.

The only difference that i could see was the different motherboard and better sound card/speakers. Would the cost of the motherborad make that much of a difference?????

Otherwise the stats on both systems were 3.2ghz/800FSB HT----1024 400ddr ram---60gb 7200rpm HD (although the hypersonic one said it was ultra ata 8mb cache while the sager did not specify what kind it was)----windows XP pro----2x dvd burner.

Can anyone explain the price difference, give their experiences with either or both???

Another question what are the advantages of having 2 identical drives in either raid configuration... is it worth having 2 hardrives in terms of money vs safety and performance.

two more questions..... 1)how do hell do you guys overclock the gpu's and
if you order a sager do you get some kind of software that lets you tweak it a bit or is that somewhere in the GPU options???? 2) I noticed 1 distinct advantage to the alienware comps.....you can remove and upgrade the graphics card very easily according to the promo...... Is the process even possible with a sager or hypersonic and if it is, how difficult is it to upgrade the graphics card????

I appreciate any input on this matter and look forward to hearing some responses!!!! I plan on buying something in the near future( 1 week) after some more research and shopping around.

Thanks again!!!!

Hypersonic uses the Arctic Silver III compound to help reduce heat, which AFAIK Sager doesn't do, but otherwise there's no different in the notebooks themselves. But Hypersonic has a much better dead-pixel policy than Sager -- zero in the center, and one anywhere else... Sager allows one in the center and five total. But their stuff is always more expensive than something bought from Sager resellers...
