I've only used DVD+R, I've heard bad things about DVD-R. Be it DVD-R is more compatable with older DVD Players, DVD+R is the "newer" format in the battle for the DVD format. I would say stick with DVD+R because it seems a little more stable to me in terms of data loss at high speed burning.

I agree if you are burning movies definatly go with dvd+r but these latops only do dvd-r but for data that is just fine. I did burn one movie with it and it worked just fine on my older dvd player that will not play dvd+r's. I too have heard not so good things about dvd-r's but for data wich is why i got it on my laptop It will work jsut fine. I do most of my movie burning on my desktop!
