Hi,
I am having a problem with my personal pc (dell i9300 with Windows XP Pro) that has no user groups or anything of that nature. I don't know what I did to cause this problem but within the last day or two I must have done something. (darn user error!)
When I click on any folder (yes I have tried quite a few) the read-only option is on (but NOT greyed out and checked). I click it off and hit apply. I right-click again and lo and behold the darn thing
is back to read-only.
Well, I turned simple security off to get the more advanced security tab and I am the owner of everything. However many times I apply the right-clicking off of read-only it comes right back. I don't get it. What the heck did I do? I did recently install some software to use with music - BitTorrent, mwkAudio something or other for SHN files (it's too early for me to remember everything), and FLAC Frontend. And a few winamp plugins. My boyfriend also installed the proprietary software for a Creative Zen Nano Plus. Are any of these known to do something like this. I even tried to use Windows Restore to go to the point before I installed all the above a few days ago and nada.
Anyway, I am the administrator and there are no other log-ons to my computer and it is not networked to anything. I have tried to research this problem and have looked at a few Microsoft support documents that don't seem to help.
Please help as this is driving me bonkers!!
Thanks,
Dawn
