Fun to play, yes... just a few hours, then it becomes repetitive. I am surprised how people gets satisfied wich such simple concept.

Perhaps I am just plain optimistic about people.

P.S. How about Deus Ex?

I mostly play coop Ghost Recon with a friend of mine. There are hundreds of mods and missions to be had.

Other than that, I play each of the major FPS titles to come out, but none of them really have any replay value for me.

I tried WoW for a while and really liked it, but it was obvious that I would spent way too much time playing it so I deleted my character and canceled the account.

So Ghost Recon, which must be about 4 years old now, is my mainstay. (BTW, it supports 1920x1280 out of the box!)

The nice thing about a game is that it's like a modern version of a book or a movie: it tells you a history and you are in it.
Actually funny you say this. Not sure if you heard the recent press release regarding the isreal army and how they wont allow people who play games like dungeon and dragons and this epic role playing games to have any access to clasified info do to their findings of weak easily over powered minds. The main point was that people get into these games and live this alternate reality in these role play games have a weaker grasp on reality when placed in stress conditions.
So I guess there are to sides to every point. You think FSP are hollow because you cannot imerse yourself in the game. Modern psychologists find people who imerse themselves in these games to have a weaker grasp on reality when stressed.
Lastly of the guys I know who play these games, lets just say they need to get out a little more. Not saying everyone , just saying these were the guys who got ripped on in High school.

Again bro it sounds here like you think somehow playing role player games makes you smarter as if FSP players have a lower IQ because we play hollow games. I find it scarry that you can sit infront of a computer for countless hours and live in this make believe world. I play fps for maybe an hour or less and not every day. Sounds like on your above comment of fsp being fun for only a few hours you are definetly playing a lot of hours in make believe land. Seems like some, maybe even you use this game as an escape because in the game you are powerful and in real life eeeh, well, not so much. I am sorry I must admit I did hella pick on D&D players as a child. Really all this epic games are is D&D on a computer and the same guys who play D&D like these games because they can escape to them. There is a whole real world out there for you to explore.

I somewhat agree with ahbroody about RPG players. People allowing their mind to succumb to an alternate reality and living in that game more than 30 hours a week needs to spend more time out of the house.

Games such as EQ, EQ2, WoW, and GW are more of a psychological virus than a game. I prefer FPS games for the mindless release it provides, as games are a hobby and not a way of life. I also play RTS games (StarCraft and C&C: Generals) because they are sophisticated chess games that help expand your mind without the "I must play here all day - these people I've never met are my real friends" effect that poisonous MMORPG's give players.

SWG was maybe the closest an MMO came to hooking me but even then I only played a couple hours a day (same that I can play CS for) and then I was bored with it for the night until there was more stuff to do the next day. Planetside was a great MMOFPS... but once people were figuring out hacks for the game and Sony was losing on keeping up with them... I also stopped playing that too.

As for the only games I'm looking forward to... some buddies of mine are trying to convert our CS1.6 time into BF2 time, and I'm anxiously awaiting TwilightWar. TwilightWar is an MMOFPS based off of the Source engine and will provide some RPG content but will not be using retarded "command queing" and instead will use actual human reflex and reaction to determine hit or miss. They said there will be "leveling" of a soft that will make you able to control your weapons spray better and better with each level... but the aiming of that weapon is still depending on you.

If you are interested in the sound of the game you can check it out at www.TwilightWar.com and look around.

MMORPG's are perfectly fine when, like all things, they are played in moderation. I think it's unfair to imply that they are intrinsically detrimental or deliterious to society or an individual's life. Once you've played enough of these, you learn to realize that end game content is pretty terrible across the board in all mmorpg's, and the fun part is taking your time and enjoying the adventure from 0-(max level). There's also nothing wrong with making "friends" in an online community. After all, that's what many of us do in here.
