Help. Windows won't boot no matter what.

Hey I have a 9860. I got it almost reaching a year ago. I just installed SP2 yesterday and when i restarted my lappy crapped on me. It will boot up to ask me if I want to run Windows in safe mode, safe mode with networking, and all the other options. When I chose to start Windows normally it freezes a few seconds later at the boot up screen. On safe mode it freezes after loading some files. I tried to repair it with the window xp pro disk but it froze when it was examing my hard drive. Therefore, I ran out of ideas on how to fix it. I can't run repair, can't boot in safe mode, and can't even go to the command prompt through windows xp install.I can't even format it through the window xp install. I was thinking this was due to a need of updated BIOS for 9860 to run SP2.

I need some serious help because my school papers and projects are on them and they need to be turned in when I get back from "Christmas Break". I beg you please to give me some info on how to fix it. If not, show me a way to format my hard drive if worse comes to worse. Should I call Sager tech support? I don't want to send it in because of time but this is my last resort.

Do you have room on your disk? You could try installing XP (separate install- don't overwrite your current one!) on some of your unused space and then once you're booted into your new install, access the HD and pick out the files you need and then once you're ready, wipe it all, do a disk check, etc. and start all over. PITA, but it might get you going. I did that w/ a friend's eMachine that went wonky.

Or, if you have access to another computer, you can pull your HD, stick it in an external enclosure (gen. ~$15-20) and then try to copy the files off that way. If it gets ugly, you can always try out data recovery software, too using this method.
