Yuk I was just looking at someone's pictures of the sentia and that computer looks like s*i* I was going to order that a few months ago..thanks good I got the Area-51M lokks SOOOOOOO much better. The cover looks the same but the inside barf......
what do you guys think?

Yeah I agree that the Area-51m looks better but the Sentia is designed for a different purpose than the Area-51m. When you consider what the Sentia is used for and the other laptops that fall into that class it's really a pretty cool little laptop.

true true, still glad i got the 51!

I'm glad I got mine too but if I needed a business oriented notebook the Sentia would probably be a major consideration

I think the sony Voio(sp?) looks pretty cool

I think they look ok but the front the Sentia looks like the Area51m so it takes the cake. Just think of going to a meeting and using powerpoint on your Cyborg green business oriented laptop. And i'm sure the Sentia also has the no dead pixel policy.

I had a few concerns when I decided on the sentia.

Looks - There were posts here that said the look was not all that. I agree with blazehenryson that the Sony equivalent looks good. But before I actually had a chance to see it first hand and touch it, the pictures online did not do justice for it. Which is probably why I am not too impressed with the Dell which I have not seen and touched. Th Sony was one in my list of choices, but the ATI at 16 MB only - I decided on the Intel. (Wait! I am not a GAMER!)

Build quality - I am comparing this to my last laptop which was a Compaq Presario 912. The case and LCD to my new Sentia does not have ANY flex at all. The Compaq had it so bad, it also creaked like an old staircase.

Heat - Centrino kicks ass! I can actually put this laptop on my lap without 1st degree burns. I just got it today, so I have not had a chance to test the battery life, but I expect good results.

Wireless - The Intel 2100 built in wireless is performing like a champ. The utility included with it is intuitive and and provides a lot of info on the wireless Access Points detected. I also tested it with Netstumler which I use to find rogue access points connected to the network without permission. NETSTUMBLER WORKS!!! Before I got this computer I could not find anything that confirmed that Stumbler works with the 2100. I tried to go to Best Buy to install Stumbler in one of their display Centrino computers and got caught. So I made like a banana and stuttered an excuse to get myself out of it.

Bad Pixels - Glad to report that there is none. The display is nice and crisp.

I AM a happy Alien!

Glad to hear it booga as I said in the previous thread i'm considering buying one for my Mom so I can't wait for your reveiw after you've had time to play with it some more. She isn't a gamer either and Alienware's no dead pixel policy is second to none. Sony won't replace an LCD for one dead pixel but the aliens will.

Hey Everyone!

Sup Booga and Craig,

It got ma sentia yesterday and words cant describe it. I am totally speechless. Pure Craftmanship. The way it shaped and the metallic green color man. Never seen a laptop so well finished.

Its tiny compared to the dell 5100 15 inch probably caz of the screen but i would pick the sentia any day over any of the laptops.

One quick question if anyone knows, is there a way to turn off the alien eyes. I dont want the lights to burn out. I already pampering it like a little baby and this will never go back to the hive.

No cons from me.
Only wished a screen was a little bit bigger but it will add weight to it which I dont want.
I like ma baby thin and light.
Whoever ordered sentia, rest assured u wont find any other thin and light laptop like that in this market.

My experience with Alienware has been awesome. They treat u like a king. Everybody at alienware have been awesome so far. I mean people at hp and dell are such ****
I tell ya.

But Alienware knows how to treat and keep their customer.

Im going to post some pictures of my baby later on and write a review too.

Thank you booga for the awesome pictures and review.

If anyone is thinking about getting a sentia, dont think twice, you getting the best that can be offered on this planet, and thats why it being offered by Aliens.

The lights on the Sentia is not controllable at this time. POssible they may put that in for the next BIOS update.

I found a Sentia review last night that suggested that it is controlled in the Sentia which made me believe that the reviewer did not really look into it or the Sentia was not in hand during the review.

Thanx for prompt reply.

Appreciate it

Um, there is a reason WHY Alienware did not display any pictures of the Sentia on their website. There are only 'rear' shots of the Sentia. The same reason why Alienware didnt display (anymore) pictures of the Area 51m's 15.4" screen because they'd rather have the public not see what these computers look like in their 'full glory.' You go to sites like Dell and Gateway and you always get pictures of the front of their laptops. Not Alienware, they like to hide what their laptops looks like from the puclic (with exception of the 16" Area 51m). IMHO I think the Sentia isn't as good-looking of laptop as the Area 51m; from the Sentia's only silver colored trackpad, the only black colored CD/DVD drive, to the ports and buttons being everywhere excpet in the back.

This could very well be so... I never thought of it in this way. Yet the 51m2 still rocks

Manu,

I hope you're digging that machine! I'm eagerly awaiting some pics and your in depth review of the machine.

I'm glad to hear Alienware's customer service has been as good for you as it has been for me. All manufacturers have their ups and downs with this aspect of their business and its good to hear you were and UP! Score +1 for the Aliens!

The back of the Sentia is the battery which you can see pictures of at Slacker.NET
You will see it with the battery on and off from the top and bottom view.

My Sentia calls to me and tugs my soul.
