to be honest, i dont know what do you mean by "differences" because all those lappies are different in some way shape or form.

that said, lower part numbers (1100) are the value models which are well, you get what you pay for. generally poor build quality and not really high on performance.

the midrange systems (5100, 6000) is a step above the 1*** in both build, and guts.

the 8500 is one of the older "power performance models" which means it is not quite all taht mobile, but its not cheap, and built rather well.

the D610 is a working man's laptop

700m is a mobile (12" inch right?) lappy that is reletively new, its powerful enough for your basic office / internet tasks, but won't get you far into gaming. on the bright side its quite mobile.

Can u tell me the difference between a corvette, malibu, cavalier, impala, avalanche, monte carlo, silverado, trailblazer?

No cuz theres too many to mention.

All those are differnt in specs, size. You really want us to sit here and name each spec for those 6 laptops?

Main difference is weight and screen size. Decide how small or big of a laptop you want.

How about just saying what kinda laptop you are looking for...and your budget..

The 1100 and 5100 are pentium 4's. Therefore they are heavier and have shorter battery lives than their p4 counterparts. They are not widescreen. I think the 5100 has discrete video ram, while the 1100 has integrated. Apparently there is a big problem with the motherboard going out on the 5100s (and probably the 1100s, since it's the same body). The motherboard on my 5150 died 6 months after the warranty ran out, and they are not cheap to replace. I would stay away from these.

The 8500/8600 are the old 15.4" widescreen pentium M computers. They were very popular until they were replaced.

The D610 is the business version of the 600m (14.1"), so it's built better, and I would choose it over the 600m.

The 6000 and 700m are the newer models and newer body style than the others mentioned. The 6000 is the successor to the 8600, and the 700m is 12.1" widescreen with a special shiny screen which is very nice. It's a good choice as a smaller computer.

Google: the difference finder.
