I've had both the Sony AX570g (17inch desktop replacement) and the Toshiba G15 (17inch desktop replacement) units, and the screens were very comparable.The Sony screen was a bit brighter, but nothing to warrant one being significantly better than the other. But, I recall the Toshiba's whites being whiter, whereas the Sony had "warmer" bright colors.
I doubt i'd notice if anyone switched the lcds on me though
