I picked up the Compaq Presario v2404us last night during CompUSA's 6 hour sale for $599.00 after rebates. I didn't have much time after I heard about the sale to research this notebook before I had to decide on the purchase. I was wanting to know if this notebook was indeed a good deal at the $599.00 price or did I rush into a low end laptop and over pay. Thank you.

I'll say you got it at a normal price. Nothing too special about the price as i got the V2408AU which is the exact same but with 80GB HDD and a Pioneer DVD Burner at SG$999....which is about US$588. Of course this was a special buy which was only limited to 10 pcs
Since you just got the V2000 series, would like to check something with you. Close the notebook and see if the flip close down tightly? Mine is a little lose on the left side. Also, check your touchpad buttons. My left button is a little lose too compared to the right button. I've actually walked around in an IT Building and checked at least 7 other of the same notebook and it's all the same. Seems like a manufacturing defect to me
