ATI Mobile Catalyst

You should also download this version of the RealTek (audio drivers):

Thanks for the info and Merry Christmas to you too!
I downloaded the file but when I rebooted I received an error message that said the ATI Catalyst Control Panel could not open (I forgot exactly what it said). I checked the driver and it now says it's driver version 8.203.0.0, the driver date is 12/11/2005. Is this the correct driver? Why do you think I had a problem installing the Catalyst Control Panel, I tried it twice and no luck.

Found the problem, I have to install .NET Framework.

Oh well, I seem to be having a problem installing the version 5.13 Catalyst video driver and control panel. When I first tried with the bundled (video driver and software) download it would not install the Catalyst Control Panel. I checked the driver and saw that it changed from the original to version 8.203.0.0 with a date of 12/11/05. I then decided to try downloading the Control Panel seperately and realized that I first had to download Microsoft .NET framework to do so. I decided to completely uninstall the video driver and start anew after installing .NET framework. After all that, when I tried installing the bundled download again I got an inf. error message that I should first install a standard VGA video driver before installing the catalyst driver. I went to Acers site and installed the original driver that came with the machine and then again tried two times, both with the bundled download and the seperate downloads to install the 5.13 Catalyst driver but I'm still getting the same error message. Anyone have any idea what's going wrong?

Man I can't believe I've been trying to download the Radeon Catalyst drive instead of the Mobility driver. My bad.

I never use the mobily cata.... wait till Omegadrivers release the new version. www.omegadrivers.net These drivers are awesome in performance and easy to install.

Kainskind, do you have any stats on the perf increases when using the omega's? (e.g. 3dmark05). Thanks!

I wish the Omega drivers were awesome. My experience was that they are crap drivers and totaly hosed my system beyond what I know how to repair. I put the latest ones on my system when I was running windowsXP 32bit and it totaly hosed my system. It booted up and then just sat there forever at the welcome screen doing nothing. So I booted up in safe mode deleted all the drivers and ran ccleaner.exe to remove any threads from registry of the driver. then I was able to boot normally. After I was able to load the defualt acer supplied ATI driver everything seamed to work fine except later I discovered my WinDVD 6 nolongwer worked, The video was blank and the audio was comming through garbled. I'm now back with X64 windows and default Acer Driver which is all working fine.

I would appreciate a new graphics driver but I'm sure not using Omega again any time soon anyway... Common ATI give us some 64 bit mobility drivers that support ACER already!!! Course they don't have Mobility for x64 period right now

Go here to bypass the test and grab the mobility driver; http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/

But I still recommend Omega driver though. It doesn't include CCPanel so no system resource hog. Good luck!
