The wireless recognizes my router and connects. Its able to send packets out but wont receive any. Any idea why this would happen? My other notebook and computer work fine on the router....should I just replace the wireless nic?

Not a hardware problem. Most likely user error. If you reset your router to default settings and make sure ssid and wifi are enabled but wep disabled .....Also try another know open network.

Do you have your wep key typed in correctly? If I don't type it in correctly, it will still connect sometimes, but not do anything.

ssid and wifi is enabled...i'm 99% sure the wep key is correct, but I'll try it again.

You are suposed to disable wep. Once you can confirm you got it working. Get the new driver from intel and use microsoft client. I was never able to get wep working with intel client.

Wierd... I'm using WEP with the Intel software and it works great.

WEP is old and outdated, and easily crackable. Switch to WPA. In any case, my Intel card works perfectly under WEP (both 64 and 128 bits), WPA, and Open. (Even better under those linux drivers /me loves promiscuous mode).

I personally use WPA-TKIP, with MAC Filters.

Never said wep does not work. What i am saying is that it common for it to cause these problems. First you disable it make sure you get connected then you can start playing with the routers bells and whistles. Like a car. Learn to drive before you race.
