Installing Windows 2000 Pro on z70Va x700 driver problem..

Hi,
I'm trying to install Win2K Pro on my z70Va but I can't install the X700 drivers. I get a weird error message, with something about a missing mfc42.dll (among many other dlls, but the mfc42 is the first one on the list).
I updated to SP4 and it still won't accept the drivers on the CD that came with the laptop.

Does anyone out there have Win2K Pro installed on a z70Va? Can u tell me your secret? I'm sick of looking at everything in 640X480 resolution . I can't get anything done....

I don't believe Windows 2000 has those required DLL files.
I'm not sure why but if you feel you need to have Win2K running you can download and easily register them into your windows library.
You can do a google search on mfc42.dll and you'll find hits for it. Instructions can also be found. Search for "Registering DLL files"

Thanks Legend. One thing though, why would ASUS not include drivers that are compatible w/ Windows 2000? Is this machine not supposed to run windows 2000?

i've noticed, newer asus laptops are more geared towards xp, and the win2000 drivers have all sorts of little issues...

anyways, if you need to register a dll, use the following from a command prompt:

regsvr32 <dllname.dll>

Its not that the laptops are meant to run Win XP.
Win XP is like the standard End User OS now. If they were to include support for Win2k, they might as well include back support for 95 and 98 too. Its simply not a feasible idea as most people have teched up to WinXP.
I have yet to see many Win2k and NT OS anymore.
