Look at my desktop. is it sexy or what? - Page 2

I installed it, rebooted several times (did not install in Safe mode, did it in Normal mode isntead), and I got it. You have to choose First-Run installation or something like that during setup though.

All I can say is that this requires a good CPU... my 1.6 533Mhz Dothan P-M has some troubles at times - goes to 100% when moving transparent windows over other windows, etc. Hopefully, in real Vista, the operation will be using GPU instead of CPU.

How do you turn off transparency?
I installed with the First-Run as well. Don't feel bad about the processor...the transparent windows taxed out my 2.0GHz as well. The app isn't memory intensive, but it definitely hogs up a CPU...on my machine anyway. I uninstalled it and went back to windowblinds glass beta 2 style with no transparency. Its cool at first but a pain in the ass to read over sometimes. I also had an issue with the top left corner of the desktop going black and not refreshing when the glass transparency feature was enabled.

There is Glass2k program running, right clickt the tray icon, go to settings, uncheck "Start when Windows starts" or something liek that, reboot - this should turn off transparency as far as I understand.

Smooth, do you mean that you uninstalled this pack and went back to some other UI customization pack? Let me know! Please.

hmmm...I dont like that all...Windowblinds 5 is so much better....but thats just my opinion....

As for eBay and Firefox, I've never had any kind of problem...
Rats -- Firefox isn't transparent.
I like it...Vista is supposed to look much more 3D with transparencies than XP but how stable is that link?

Windowblinds looks cool too, will have to check that out. Any other cool stable skins/shells for XP?

I have all the major browsers & I like Opera the best (love autosave multitab sessions & recallable trash-recycle bin+great for high res monitors). My favorite feature in Firefox that Opera doesn't have yet is the highlighted text on the fly FIND feature.

Thanks for that link, I installed it and it works better than I thaught.

The troubles I have with it are :
EBay text editor not compatible, no known pluggins to fix AND the EBay tool bar with account gaurd not compatibilile. I let me powerseller rep know about it on our last phone conversation and she said they are currently working on making the site more firefox compatible.

Log into your EBay, click on the "sell" link and scroll down to where you enter your desciption. You'll just see a blank box for entering HTML code, not the EBay text editor.

EBay toolbar is great free security add-on aimed at preventing log-ons to spoof EBay/PayPal websites, and unauthorized log-ins. It also notifies a seller when they have a question on an item...no more keeping your email program open or constantly monitering "my messages". You can set it to pop up when you have bids, auctions ends, receive a message, etc.

And very usable with the latest wmf virus exploits around the world, google greetings cards from Claudia and so on... where MS has since 2 days no (zero) update or patch written. They let the big customers and normal paying users standing in the rain like a angry bus driver.

This can be the wirldest virus/trojan be in 2005...

Sweet, everyhting works fine for me ^^. My favorite is the vista beta 2, just one problem... when i hit the start button, the left side of the buttons covers the icons of the right sided buttons. And uh, what are the glass2k and longhorn sidebar things for? thx,

Franz

P.S.: Where do you get different desktop icons from?

P.P.S.: Is it possible that 100% CPU is used? (2.13ghz)?!? Is that from the transparency or from the new design? Will it affect game performance?

For when you hit the start button it could either be cause of the resolution of your screen or the size of the fonts, or a combination of both.
Glass 2k is for the transparency effect. Sidebar shows clock rss feed and slideshow at the right of your screen.
You can get desktop icons either from

About the 100% cpu issue, I haven't noticed cpu going up more that 2% when moving the windows. It could be related to PM or Nvidia, or it could be just that one person only that had this problem.
Ok the cpu cooled down after a restart. Mightve just been because i looked at all the designs like 3 times over ^^. Now, while itunes is playing, it varies between 0-20%, usually around 10% tho, running at 800mhz. Well, i don't want to change my res, but how do i change the font size?
I still don't quite understand what the "Clock" and "Skin" setting is in the longhorn sidebar thing, clicking any of those doesn't change anything -.- .

€: Ok, i tried it out, the more i move (=faster) a window, the more % cpu is used... i can manage ~70% if im really throughing my mouse around ^^. Same goes for no transparency, though.

Oh well.
You have to restart windows for the themes to implement

After you restart it will switch to what ever you set up in the program.
I gotta question. I've tried to install custom windows themes before with no luck. The file extentions don't even match the files in the resources folder (the original windows themes files) I'm looking for a windows theme like what was on that movie with Tom Cruise, something about being a cop in the future and stopping crimes before they happened? Anyways, the screens on the "time machine" were a futuristic bluish transparent type. A windows theme like that would be cool. So, does anyone have any idea of what the hell i am talking about?? Prob. not. Thanks
