Hello, and thanks for reading!
I was about to re-install Windows XP Pro when I made a fatal mistake... during the installation screen it asked me where I would like to install Windows at. I accidentally deleted my main partition. After doing this I created a new partition and attempted to format it using the "format c:" command. The partition would always come back as "unknown type". I used the repair windows option and tried formating the partition. This time windows recognized it as an NTFS partition, but it says it still cannot install windows because "this disk does not contain a Windows XP-compatible partition." I tried formating it to FAT32, but then windows still says its an unknown file type. If I try running FDISK, FDISK gets to the screen where it asks you if you would like to enable it for large drives. Regardless if I pick yes or no, FDISK just locks up and hangs the system. All I want to do is install Windows XP so I can use my computer again. Any help would be appreciated. By the way... this is a latop, so I cannot remove the hard drive at all.
