Recent distro and gen1 XPS???

Anyone running a recent distro on a gen 1 Dell XPS? If so how much of a PITA was/is it? I checked linux-laptop.net but didn't find anything recent on there.

Since I have a newer(smaller) laptop for work, I was going to try putting linux on my xps (I've used linux before, just not in the last year or so).

what are you waiting for? start installing and playing around.

if you know what you're doing go Gentoo.

if you need a refresher course on linux, try Kanotix or PCLinuxOS, both are livecds with installation options....so you can try them before you install them

taking a quick look at tuxmobile.com it doesnt look like there is much that doesnt work, but you may want to go read through that stuff as well if you havent already.

Past that not having the notebook I couldnt help you much, sorry.
