nfs underground performance

i have a dell xps system with a 9800pro, 1 gig of ram, and a 3 ghz c processor. When i play nfs:u for long periods of time it starts to hiccup, is this normal or bad? To me it seems wrong because Halo plays at max res and max settings without any hiccups in the game at all no matter how long i play!

Still, he put it in a ton of other places, just to get answers fast,not because he forgot he was in the wrong place
