elantech touchpad and Firefox

The CX7 is a great machine, but I'm not impressed by the fact that I can't use the touchpad to scroll in Firefox.

Doing some research, it seems this problem is common to Elantech control software. Some Acer owners solved it by uninstalling the Elantech driver, letting the system default to the XP touchpad driver.

I may try this on the CX7. There's nothing too special about Elantech's software, apparently XP's built-in drivers are quite sufficient.

I'll report here if I get a chance to try this.

seems a bit overcritical to assume a manufacturer would ensure the drivers work for a single web app, even one as popular as firefox. but it's definitely solvable.

here's the solution:

1. uninstall touchpad drivers
2. go to control panel -> mouse -> hardware -> properties -> Advanced settings
3. set wheel detection to "assume wheel is present" (then reboot)

there you go, no need for any other drivers install. Now you have your 'great machine' back again!
