IMPORTANT - Dell Battery Recall!

Thread Starter
I bought my Dell Inspiron 9300 through my companys EPP. I don't know why I didn't get contacted by Dell directly, but my company did regarding a battery recall. I checked and sure enough, my battery is part of the recall. The following is the info that my company received from Dell. I would suggest that anyone with a Dell take a quick look. Admins...perhaps you might consider making this a sticky.

Here's the info from Dell:

The information below will guide you through the replacement process.

* Suspect batteries have the potential to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire. A small number of Dell customers have reported over heating related incidents with this affected battery. There has been some minor property damage. No injuries have been associated with this issue.

* Only the batteries, not the notebook systems are subject to the recall. 9 suspect batteries part numbers are applicable to the following systems:

Latitude D410, D505, D510, D600, D610, D800, D810
Inspiron 510m, 600m, 6000, 8600, 9200, 9300, XPS Gen 2
Precision M20, M70.
* We have identified the PPID numbers for the suspect batteries. While most of the suspect batteries are associated with service tags, there are some suspect batteries that are not. We are using public announcements (press release and CPSC web posting) to directly inform the public about this issue.

* Dell is complying with WW legal requirements.
* www.dellbatteryprogram.com this website will match end-user battery PPIDs with a list of known suspect battery PPIDs, and confirm if the battery is on the list, or not. Customers with suspect batteries will automatically go to a replacement order process.

* Replacement batteries have been received at all regional replacement sites. Replacements are immediately available for dispatch to customers.

I believe this info has been available for a while, but it's good to remind people periodically who are new to the site, etc.
