Is nvidia PureVideo decoder any good ?

Has anyone tried out the nvidia purevideo decoder
did it improve quality or anything while playing dvds etc ...

It is VERY good. I could tell the difference after installing it.

it uses hardware(video card help) acceleration for mpeg2 video. It also has some decent deinterlacers too so its pretty good for watching 1080i, I can do deinterlaced 1080i playback at 30-40% CPU usage, befor it was around 80-90% sith no deinterlacing.

Also for some older computers it can make HD playback work when normally it wouldnt. you could probably play 1080i video on as low as a 1 GHz(pentium-3) machine with this.

yes, it really helps with hd videos. however, i prefer to use windvd for dvd playback, which is also hardware accelerated.

It should be noted that nvidia PureVideo is just a decoder. it comes with a player, but that isn't the part that makes everything look good.

What player does it come as part of?

I got i9300, but I don't think I have PureVideo It seems that I have to purchase it to get it?? No way, I ain't that rich =)

ya, its not free. most desktop card though include it in the package.
