I was hoping that the order would ship before classes start back and I am really suprised that its still in the boxing stage.

I went to dell chat and they kept saying 5 days in boxing is normal, I am just worried if it will get here on time because I expected it to ship a little sooner as per experience and that the free shipping would have been perfect. Well long story short I just got upgraded to next day for free!

Now if the dang thing will finally ship already...

Order my XPS m170 on 12/28 went to boxing on the 12/29 and is still there. The free Dell DJ Ditty arrived next day though.

What is the chance that dell just did not update my order status and it may actually ship tomorrow or so. Tomorrow will be day 7 that my laptop is still in the in production stage.

DELL-ayed computer

I am truly dissatisfied with my purchasing experience with dell thus far. I called in my order on 12/20, shows as order processed 12/23. In production 12/26, showed up as Kitting, Build and testing completed on 12/28, where it has stayed ever since. It takes SIX DAYS to box it? I was initially told it would ship on 1/3, at time of order. on order status page, it shows will ship on 1/09 I am unable to contact them through Chat being as I ordered it through EPP, and they have a SEPERATE CHAt for EPP, and the limited hours it is up conflicts with my work schedule. I guess i did not foresee that it would take so long for them to ship a computer to me, OVER 3 WEEKS!! How does ths company stay in business if this is their normal practice???

The thing is, this isn't their normal practice. Most people get their systems within a week, plus or minus a day or two. Desktops ship exceptionally fast, as they don't have to be shipped from Malaysia, and they spend about 4 minutes building each one. I think I got my desktop 4 days after I ordered it. I got my laptop 8 days after I ordered it. I think I said it earlier. E-mail and complain, and you will more than likely get some free stuff out of them.

free stuff, like some crappy Dell Ditty mp3 player that won't even play any of my music purchased through the iTunes music store? Not interested.

I'll call them tomorrow (which i shouldn't have to do, they should I least give the courtesy of an e-mail when an order is delayed) If they can not expedite my order, I will most likely drive to the Apple store and buy a Powerbook this weekend.

Thoroughly unimpressed with the whole "Dell Experience"

Wow, I've never heard any turn down free electronics before. They seem reluctant to send out free Dell stuff, and even if they do, it's the cheap stuff. They sent me a free 256MB flash drive, which was selling for like $40. However, when I e-mailed them a second time, they had absolutely no problem sending me a $80 SanDisk MP3 player and also crediting my account for the shipping charges of the system. Maybe it was because of the rep, but I got the idea that they were not willing to give me a Ditty, or even a flash drive that would actually be useful. 256MB is nothing these days.

Same here. 3rd day in boxing.

I called them asking for a more specfic date, all i would get was you will get it in 3-5 days.

The manager got on, but i got droped or something.

(it said it would ship yesterday, and be at my house my tomorrow)

I ordered my I6000 on 12/30 and it shows a check next to "Testing". Has it been tested? Or is in boxing? Also says the estimated delivery date is 1/23-1/25. BLAH.
