5680 REVIEW

WOW!!

Excellent review! Thank you for taking the time and effort to inform potential Sager owners. I received my Sager last week (same as yours …but with 3.0 Gig).

BTW: My hobbies are Ham Radio and Geography. I noted the image on your desktop monitor. Is that area your home? I sure enjoy CW and voice contacts for that area.

You seem to have a very problematic laptop, nice decals though

My 5680 doesnt have that keyboard problem you have, no dead pixels, etc....That line through your screen must have hurt.

Only problem with mine is they sent me two unmatched sticks of RAM in my laptop, which means I can only use 512mb(one in at a time, two will cause laptop to go haywire) until monday when I call to try to make them send me a matched pair of RAM.

Great review dude .
I notice you have one of the Samsung 191T's. They are awesome. The now impossible to obtain 8890 SXGA screens are equivalent to the 191T in colour saturation and contrast. After testing so many external LCD's I was going to get the 191T because it matched so well with the 8890. Then Samsung pulled a swifty. They released the 193T - increased colour saturation and increased contrast (750:1 compared to the 500:1 in the 191T).

Hooked up to the 8890's DVI output the 193T it is simply awesome. I only wish I had a digital camera so I could show people. Absolutely pin sharp. 19 inches of pure bliss.

Superb review, pashonic!!! Actually I'm still trying to decide wether to go for a sager5680 (clevo, cause there's no sager in portugal. 2.8Ghz) or the D470w (2.8Ghz 533BUS ATI M9 64mb). Their about the same price.
I've seen the 470w live and it look sturdy and well manufactured, good keyboard and very thin 36.5mm) The drawbacks seem to be overheating (i've read many posts) and a not so good performance as the 5680.
I've also seen live an old barebone of a 5680 (by the times of the radeon7500 lol) and it looked nice but it's construction quality seemed a bit lower, not as resistent. I liked the way it dissipates the heat, using the bottom angle to give a more comfortable for using the keyboard.
