A while ago I copied down these sites from some other post, it might be the one you already looked at, though. Here they are:

http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/
http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/

I think one is sort of a "driver" while the other one is a program to "use" said "driver." Try 'em out, because I remember whoever posted about them said the quality was very good.

Cheers.

I'm not sure if you can really do that. Apparently those "better" ones on the Internet are also somewhat more limited.

Cheers.

What do you mean a tv descrambler? Do you mean one for cable?

Cheers.

snapstream

I think the TV tuner is ok on the 8887s, however, the supplied software is a little flaky in my opinion. When i watch TV on it, it seems a little well, pixelated, as if there were many small dots covering the display area. But when i use a program called snapstream PVS to record, it looks fine.

to get snapstream working, i used the drivers mentioned above from sourceforge. you run one, and it asks you questions about the tuner. then you save the supplied information and run the other program, and it makes up some new drivers for it.. use the new drivers and snapstream should work fine.
I can tell it to record every night at a time, every friday, or every weekday, or shchedule just one recording. and it you have the option of selecting the quality you want... DVD quality (from a broadcast source is a little overkill), VHS QUALITY, IPAQ QUALITY FOR POCKET PC'S, 56K MODEM STREAMING QUALITY..... YOU get the picture.

anyway, hope this helps

That DScaler program works wonders, even with the default driver. However, it won't capture/record. I prefer Cyberlink PowerVCR for that. It's not great, but it's better than the included stuff.

I'm going to get my 8887 next Thursday. I'm wondering which program view/record TV program better between Intervideo WinDVR and Power VCR II ? Or are there any other good programs out there....

Thanks,

Darn it! No matter how much I try, the PowerVCR program crashes on launch. I can put it in compatability mode and it will sort of work... but not really well.

What am I doing wrong?

Hmm... I don't have any problem with PowerVCR II 3.0 (Deluxe). It's the best TV/VCR program I've try so far.
I just record Final Fantasy from HBO last night... record in MPEG 2 Best mode (640x480).... It's awesome.

I tried the Power VCRII 3.0 Deluxe trial download and mine also crashes on startup. I tried to use the Patch on their website, but it won't run because it apparently can't find "PowerVCR II 3.0 Deluxe Version installed". How did you get your copy that works, and did you do anything special to get it to work?

Hmm... that's weird. Here is what I did...
1) Install the lastest TV-Winxp drivers [5.2.4.0]. You can download it from http://www.aver.com/support/downloads.shtml .
2) I didn't install the TV Studio program from Aver.
3) Install Power VCR II 3.0 Deluxe.

That's all what I did. Power VCR will find hardware and config itself....

I saw no version 5.2.4.0
