har har... I dunno, I think any broadband above 1mbit is a little meaningless, because most webservers either cap their transfer speed, or aren't on a fast enough line to provide over your download limit... Like clevo's site. You may be on broadband, but you still get dialup speed!

You get dialup speed because they are located in China
post #25 of 92
That was the point of my original post. The download on the drivers was at 4.6 KB/s. Might as well watch golf.

Yeah but it's worth it. The new drivers took care of the noise that polluted my music. Before it was horrible, I didn't even want to listen to music on the speakers I had hooked up to my lappy. But now It's a world of difference. There is still a small amount of noise, But I rarely notice it. I can now enjoy my music.

Connect a nice set of digital speakers via the S/PDIF port.

My sound is always very clear, through the analog is a different story.

I've got the Altech-Lansing 5100 so I cant do that, But there is no problem with the sound now

Umm, no. Many downloads go at 5-6MBits.

actually i thought they both had the 8169... but the originating post here was geared toward new sound drivers for the 8890 so the 8139 would be misleading but anyway....

There are newer drivers out, 3.54.

Does anyone know where the program installs readme files so that I can find out what the newest drivers even *do*? The readme on their site is many versions old and their .exe style that they've had since 3.50 makes it impossible for me to figure out what's going on in the drivers now.

For everyone: the 8139/8169 are NICs, not audio related. Besides, how many of you are able to download drivers from Realtek ? I can't.
