New RealTek audio drivers - Page 4

so they moved from 5.10 version to A3.59?
I may be incorrect, but I believe the A3.59 is the package version. I have installed the latest version and my drivers for the Realtek AC'97 Audio hardware is 5.10.0.5580 (dtd 5/14/2004).

Definitely can be confusing, but that is why I read the readme file. In it you can find the new version numbers for the individual drivers. This is what is listed in the A3.59 version:

WDM driver for Win98/WinMe/Win2000/WinXP : 5.10.0.5580
VXD driver for Win95 : 4.5.0.3019
VXD Software wavetable driver : 3.1.0.0
NT4 driver for Windows NT4 : 4.3.0.3039
NT4 software wavetable driver : 4.3.0.2002

RtlRack for Win98/Me/2000/XP : 1.9.0.0
AvRack for Win95/NT4 : 2003.4.4.1

Realtek Soundman : 5.1.0.27
Realtek Sound Effect Manager(CPL) : 2.2.0.26
Realtek Sound Effect Manager(RtlCpl) : 1.0.1.27
Realtek Sound Effect Manager for NT4 : 2.3.0.3

Driver/Application Setup Program : 4.95

Thanks.

Thanks Ratmyr, I got it now. I installed the new audio drivers but I still get that annoying noise in the background when i connect the headphones (the same noise which was reported earlier in various threads).

From the readme.txt:

A3.61 -
1. Add some customized settings.

Yeah. These look like a great patch this time. Something tells me, don't bother with these ones...

I'm using the new ones. They are a definately improvement from the last time I upgraded (3.55).

I quess I waited awhile too since my last update. I notice a improvement as well. I had a slight audio lag on some games, not now.
You definately get a huge improvement if you upgrade anything below 3.58, I believe, to the newest. My comment was just that if you already have 3.60 you don't get much more from 3.61s.

Time to upgrade 3.62 is out !
Don't install the 3.62s, or at least, it's not as good as the last few for me. I've been having some minor skipping problems with them...

How do I find out which version of the AC97 driver I have? I'm on an 8790 if it makes any difference. Are you guys just updating the drivers with the newest version or are you uninstalling the previous version of your driver first?
Version 3.63 out on the 9th of September.
--Please let us know if the 3.63's work welll! I'm still running the ones that shipped with my 8790.
I've just installed 3.63 and was wondering what these do:

- Noise Suppression
- Stereo Microphone (greyed out)
- Accoustic Echo Cancellation (greyed out)

Cant find much about it on the website.
Don't know why this is, but the recent 3.64's work and sound GREAT on my 8790. The improvements are hard to describe, but I seem to have crisper and more separated sound with less rattling and rumbling than before when I was using the stock drivers.

Just my experience
