I said the same thing about 17" notebooks and ended up getting a 9300, but I don't know about 19". That just seems near impossble to lug around, especially at over 10 pounds.

Wow.

I wouldn't call that a laptop--I'd call that a semi-portable desktop or a small-form-factor PC.

Still, I might be interested...this could be useful as a home theater PC for me, or maybe as my new desktop.

19" is wayyyy to big, miswell get a desktop

One further question will be if they start improving the screens themselves in addition to the size. Response time, contrast and so forth still need to grow more, imo.

But yes sadly I'd probably take the reduced portability for a bit more real estate

few years later 30" notebooks comes out then you'll be saying: damn, I thought my newly bought 24" laptop was big...
Why not go and buy a 24" monitor?
Because it's hard to carry it on the plane along with your desktop.
Because there large and heavy themselves I supposed if you can make a 19 inch notebook only weigh 11 pounds then thats a feat considering most 19 inch lcds are over 15 pounds.

And a 19" 10.6 lb laptop isn't ?

Btw you don't need a desktop to run a 2405 monitor

Come on,common sense here guys I'm talking about at home or the office,if you needed a really large screen on the road you would use a projector wouldn't you as a 19" or 24"screen is still to small for a presentation to a room of people

Thats not gonna be as portable as the currently 17"..
I did get the 2405 and I did carry it back and forth to work...

How did you transport it? What was the purpose of transporting it back and forth?
This would be really cool with a 19" WUXGA LCD with 2405 "specs". Add an internal BluRay or HD-DVD drive, an internal HDTV receiver, and it would make a great portable HDTV as well as an amazing "laptop".

Got any info on when the i9400 will be released ?
Thinking of buying a i9300 but as if the i9400 is around the corner I sure will wait for it.

Cheers

I wonder where the upper limit will be. At what point will the weight to tensile strength ratio be such that the monitor will become racked if the notebook lid is opened with only one hand?

Bigger screens are nice, but if they break too easily then the notebook will have to become heavier in order to add strength to the case.

It's an interesting development if the 19" laptops are coming... despite the size, weight factors, who knows??? Maybe we'll be able to see a 512MB dedicated graphics card in those machines!!! That will be amazing!!!

I also transport my 2405 back and forth to work everyday.
My case is my golf bag. I put my usb mouse and my d/dock in my bowling bag.
My bowling shoes go into my notebook backpack and I don't bowl anymore so I gave the ball away.
But the 19" notebook should be the answer to all my problems.

Thats nice. My next laptop will prob be 19" or larger. I prob won't buy another laptop until 2K7 or later tho. Will the 19" laptop look like 9300/6000/710m? Hopefully not since the style has been used way too much.
