So I just got a Lenovo Yoga 13. This is my review.
As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and...
I have owned dozens of laptops in a variety of brands, and had many different laptops provided for my use at work. Without question, this is the finest I have owned. The Alienware M17x R2 is a...
Lenovo Thinkpad W530 Review
by Djembe
One of the longest and most enduring brands in computers is Thinkpad. Originally developed by IBM in the USA, Thinkpad notebook computers are now...
samsung already has a 19" laptop out and its pretty decent, ofcourse not avail in North America but yah.... Dell is prolly gonna get the rights for it and bring em here, just like the X1
I said the same thing about 17" notebooks and ended up getting a 9300, but I don't know about 19". That just seems near impossble to lug around, especially at over 10 pounds.
10 pounds is a lot of notebook. I had a Sager that was about 12 pounds and it was a beast to lug around.
Whoever said that those were portables was terribly midlead. Although I guess they had never seen anything different, so a 12 pound, 3" think computer was a little more portable than a big tower and a CRT. I have an old IBM that runs on Windows 95, has like a 7" screen, and is like 3 inches thick. The thing still runs the games I have for it...on floppy disk.
Actually, a 19 inch widescreen notebook would not have to be very much larger at all than the current 9300.
Why do people persist in acting as though such a laptop would require a crane to haul around??
How did people ever get by when they had to haul firewood and water into the house from a well and today we gripe about a couple of extra pounds gheesh!!
Everyone seems to forget that the Dell XPS gen 1 laptop is a shade over 10 lbs. That computer was a TANK.
The 19" laptop first gen will likely be big, but as Dell gains experience with the manufacturing process I'm sure things will slim down. I'd like to have the 9300 that was 1" THIN, and I expect to see something like this in the future.
I can see how a 19" laptop would be excellent for what I use it for, and if the weight was 7-8 lbs, it would be a no brainer purchase.
If the weight was around what the 9300 is, I'd consider it. But at over 10 lbs, its way too much of a desktop replacement for me. It would replace the dekstop...sitting on the desk. I still think I'd rather a 17 incher as when you're sitting that close, a 19 incher might be a little too big. Personally, I tend to sit closer to a notebook than I would a desktop, because the keyboard is attached.
