good bluetooth mouse??

anybody know of a good bluetooth mouse that will work decently well for gaming sometimes? I was thinking of getting a logitech v270 as I've had no problems with my mx700, but I've read abunch of people talking about lag and problems with gaming in reference to bluetooth mice in general. I want a decent sized mouse, not a mini version if possible but not the size of a mx900 either.

Bluetooth Mice go into a 'sleep' mode to save battery, this will cause about a one second lag
on the first click or move as the Mouse 'wakes-up'.

What Logitech is doing, is to have this 'sleep' mode entered after five seconds of inactivity.

I have a Bluetooth IntelliMouse and it is set to enter the 'sleep' mode after eight minutes
(480 seconds) of inactivity, so this 'lag' is never noticed in any normal use.

This is not too hard on the batteries (2 x AA) as I have been getting eight weeks on cheapest
(44ยข a pair) AA's and just loaded NiMH rechargables to test their life.

Size would be similar to MX900 and has buttons four and five that smaller mice don't.

Unlike the MX900, it needs no "Charging, Bluetooth, USB & AC Powered Console",
it comes with a MS Bluetooth v2 USB 'Dongle', but it was plug 'n play with my internal Bluetooth.

Weight is 160gm (5.5oz) with two batteries (runs fine on one) and ergonomic shape is very
comfortable for your Right Hand.

Speed and accuracy would be excellent for gaming or any other use.

Mouse Wheel is "Smooth Scroll" (no detents or clicks) and this bothers some gamers and it is
one of the features I prefer.

Can you assign custom keystrokes to buttons with the new intellimouse software?

Thanks

IntelliPoint Software

Yes you can, I had no need to change anything more than the Existing ALPS Console would already assign for me
(even includes four day's of "Low Battery" Warnings ) so I never installed IntelliPoint software.

With IntelliPoint, you could assign any function to any of the five buttons and horizontal scroll with the "Tilt Wheel".

ALPS will assign functions to left and right clicks and set middle click to also enable "Auto-Scroll"
which I prefer to the "Tilt-Wheel".

Buttons 4 & 5 are defaulted to Forward/Back in Browser (including Firefox) or any other application (like Windows Explorer).

Firefox offers an extension to convert the Wheel's action from "seven lines" or "one page"
(or whatever you program it for) to a true Smooth Scroll in Firefox's Browser.

It still does the 'Normal Scroll' in IE or other apps.

It has been said that you can have both the included Bluetooth Mouse Control Drivers and ALPS Console,
but others have complained that with Logitech's SetPoint Drivers that their
ALPS TouchPad Console is reset to Default Settings on every re-boot.

I got a system with intergrated bluetooth. Would it be better to use a bluetooth mouse or a wireless one? I heard the bluetooth ones are not as good.

Well, if you are talking about Bluetooth. I think the best one is Logitech MX5000.

Bluetooth, no doubt causes problems for a lot of users in navigating all the Stack/Driver issues
and getting it setup and working properly. For me, it was already doing my Printer and GPS and the
IntelliMouse was the easiest (plug 'n play) install possible.

A wireless (RF) 'cordless mouse' from IntelliMouse sells for less than half the Bluetooth version.

I never had any desire for one, but for a "desktop replacement" the presence of the rather large RF Radio on your Desktop should be no problem,
and the lack of interference from other devices in the 2.4GHz Band in your room should allow it to work well.

I wanted more portability and believe Bluetooth is the answer and this has proven to be correct.

It is good to see Logitech finally getting more into Bluetooth after so many years of resistance,
I had wanted, and long waited for a Laser Bluetooth Mouse,
but the 'built-in' Lag on the MX1000BT (with MX5000 set) is a concern for me.

good luck

so how do you make it not shut down every 5 seconds then?
my mom and i are looking into a bluetooth mouse simply because wireless ones are a bit of a hassle, the retractable corded one we have is TOO small, and we dont want a corded one for the obvious burden of having a long cord. we got the blue tooth module, and i dont wanna end up being disapointed with a new mouse again.

...snip...
Just keep it moving, at least every four seconds!

Got my IntelliMouse from This eBay Store for way less than $50 US delivered.

Mine was Brand New and sealed in box, but check "feedback comments" to see that 2% have been opened.

Of the past 15 sold, only one was under $30, but eleven were under $40!

If you are new to eBay, be sure to visit THIS website before you register

I just bought a v270 as its got an on/off switch and its 1000dpi, so I'll let you know how it does.

I love my V270! Like I said in a previous post, all my mice are ambidextrous, something the MX1000 and the like do not have.

I don't find the 5-second sleep function too troublesome either, because with the games I play (BF2, HL2, etc), my mouse is never sitting still for longer than 1 second.

I don't game at all, but I love my Kensington Pilot Bluetooth mouse. Works great, no wires, just open the laptop, click the mouse once and you're good to go.

Is there a sleep fonction on the v270? If so how's the sleep fonction work on this mouse? Can it be turn off or configured?

I just ordered one for my i9300 and I'm curious how it works.

Bluetooth IntelliMouse BatteryLife

Just an update on battery life with my BT IntelliMouse

After seven weeks each on cheapest (Costco @ 48 AA's for $9.59) thought I would try NiMH ReChargeable
(RadioShack's 1500mAh's at least three years old).

First pair tried ran for two weeks,
(no "last 1% Warning" but Battery Gauge was down in 'yellow' two days ahead of dead).
Can you connect that Microsoft mouse to the internal BT card and still have all the button customization?

Thanks in advance!
